Smart Containers We Call "Dorsal Pods" Are Key . . .

Smart 'load sensing' containers are equipped with interlocks which connect together to become a structural load carrying component of the airframe. In commercial transport this could result in twice the payload delivered for the same amount of fuel.

Re-purposing unmanned military aircraft is as simple as changing the Dorsal Pods (containers).  Logistics supply, mid-air fuel tanker, attack platform and more -  all with the same single drone airframe.

The Drone Cargo System Starts Here

: : Smart Containers : :

Our smart Dorsal Pod containers become part of the load carrying airframe.  Equipped with interlocks they connect together as a structural member of the aircraft.   In commercial transport this could result in twice the payload delivered for the same amount of fuel.

Re-purposing the unmanned aircraft is as simple as changing the container(s).  Logistics supply, mid-air fuel tanker, attack platform and more -  all with the same drone aircraft.

: : Economical flight and flexible load configurations : :

With people removed from the aircraft, it can now fly in the most fuel efficient method, which usually means slower and lower altitudes resulting lower fuel costs.· In addition, weird looking heavy load configurations are possible as there would be no people on board requiring aesthetic design and noise reduction considerations.· needed to be pleased.· McDonnell Douglas once had a program testing an unducted prop fan.· Even though it showed potential of having fuel savings of 30% or more, it was never pursued because the cabin noise would have been higher and it needed to fly slower than other jet aircraft.

: : Simplicity : :

Designed from the start for easy component removal.· Modern aircraft are hard to maintain and usually have to be taken off the flight line for major repairs.  The Dorsal concept is designed to allow replacement of engines on the flight line.

: : Use proven technology : :

While everyone in aerospace seems to be diving into replacing all their aircraft offerings with composites construction instead of metal, Dorsal believes that aluminum construction is a proven technology that can be more economical to use than today’s composites offerings.· Since our aircraft would be flying slower and at lower altitudes than current passenger commercial aircraft, we expect to have great flexibility in reducing costs.  i.e. slow and low means lower flight loads and pressurization loads.

: : Unpressurized fuselage : :

The Dorsal design is an unpressurized fuselage space where the outer skin is essentially an aerodynamic fairing.  Pressurization and other environment control (heating and cooling) if required would be designed into the individual containers.

Infinite Payload Options

Payload may be be pre-configured with mixed 5ft., 10ft., 20ft., and 40ft. container combinations.

Seamless Integration With Existing Truck and Rail Shipping Platforms

Our containers would meet International ISO standards for hook-up and transport functionality.
